A year and a half ago, I had zero experience with computer programming.. Today, I am launching a website to promote my own independent game studio, Colophon Games. As a lifelong gamer and admirer of the craft of video game development, it is weird finding myself now doing what I've so long studied from afar. Back when I was a kid, editing graphics in NES ROMS and making simple HTML pages with friends, actually working in games seemed fantastic and unreasonable. It was an idea that couldn't even be shelved, because I didn't even take the time to consider it an option in the first place.
Fortunately , a friend I met at a party convinced me that the world of programming was not beyond my grasp nor exclusive to Computer Science majors. His argument was so convincing that I bought a book that night on how to program in C#, Introduction to C# Programming, by Peter Bako. With that book and a lifetime of considering the structure of video games, I decided I may as well give this a try. My first game is a simple one, using 2D graphics and more basic mechanics. As the weeks go on I hope to divulge more information about it here. Currently, two of the five levels for the game are complete. Alpha testers are currently playing these portions of the game and submitting feedback. By August I hope to launch the game. Please follow Colophon Games here or on Facebook or Twitter for more information.
